Job Summary
Reporting to the project manager, the position is responsible for providing on-site coordination for CDB's Etobicoke Creek Bridge Replacement project, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that all specifications are met and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. As the assistant superintendent, you will also shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Openness to mobility is a requirement, as the assistant superintendent will be relocated to work on other projects throughout central Ontario (as far north as Barrie, west to Waterloo, and east to Pickering) upon completion of the Etobicoke Creek project.


Responsibilities
·       Effectively manage site employees by providing coaching and guidance and resolving any issues and concerns
·       Coordinate the work of subcontractors and speciality sub trades, evaluate their performance
·       Determine manpower requirements and communicate hiring needs to the Human Resources
·       Oversee detailed look-ahead schedules
·       Coordinate time-sheets submissions
·       Participate in meetings with clients
·       Manage materials/supplies ordering and receiving process
·       Ensure regular inventories of equipment, tools, and materials are performed
·       Ensure as-built drawings are updated
·       Coordinate site mobilization and demobilization
·       Ensure construction site documents are produced, maintained and filed according to CDB procedures
·       Participate in project completion & close-out
·       Maintain health, safety and environmental standards and laws by ensuring HSE compliance, delivering HSE training & orientations, conducting H&S work analysis, incident investigations, assisting with work stoppage and other H&S related activities at request.

Qualifications required

Education
·       Diploma in Civil Engineering Technician / Technologist or equivalent in experience
·       3-5 years’ experience as a foreman or general foreman in civil construction
·       5-10 years of experience within the construction industry


Certifications / licenses
·       Current Driver's License


Experience and Knowledge
·       Proven records managing site operations on Dam/Hydraulic/ Bridge projects
·       Proficient in reading plans and specifications
·       Impeccable safety record
·       Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and policies to ensure compliance through reporting and administration

Assets
·       Bilingual at English and French an asset
·       MS Project
·      Prior experience on MTO projects


Work Conditions
·       Mobility for various assignments in central Ontario
·       Willingness and ability to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time
