Procurement Coordinator

Job Description
This is a full-time position for Construction Demathieu & Bard's joint venture (referred to as Leaside Valley Builders) with EBC on the Don Valley Crossings project in East York. The expected project duration is four years (estimated completion date: September 2028). However as this position is permanent, the procurement coordinator will then be assigned to another project(s) within Ontario. Therefore, an openness to mobility is required.

Under the supervision of the Commercial Manager, the Procurement Coordinator will provide comprehensive administrative support to all members of the project team, playing a crucial role in the procurement process and project success.

Work Conditions
The work must be performed in person (hybrid) at various project sites located within the East York region of Toronto for the completion of two multi-span bridges, slope stabilization, underpass rehabilitation and all other associated works (temporary roads, bridges, traffic control, etc.) You may also need to periodically visit to CDB's head office in Peterborough for events and training. Work hours are between 40-50 hrs/week, 7:00am-5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Developing detailed plans to optimize the delivery of equipment, materials, supplies and services in terms of quality, cost, and schedule
  • Preparing and issuing request documents to qualified suppliers (request for quotes, information, proposals, etc.)
  • Negotiating and/or assisting in negotiating the best price, delivery, payment and purchase terms, tax exemptions, price escalation and other factors impacting the total cost of items or services purchased, logistics management, including expediting deliveries to critical sites
  • Managing the lifecycle of purchase order activity in the system (such as SAP, etc.)
  • Participating in the evaluation of supplier performance
  • Understanding and complying with all project policies, particularly procurement and security policies
  • Maintaining high data integrity when entering records into project database systems
  • Providing reports and analysis on procurement activities
  • Facilitating the implementation of company-specific contracts for services and/or materials
  • Studying market trends, interview suppliers and recommend sources of supply
  • Other as requested

Requested skills

Education/ certifications
·       Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics or other relevant discipline
 
Experience and Technical Knowledge
·      Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Access to a personal vehicle
·       Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in purchasing in the construction sector or other heavy industrial environment
·       Experience in heavy infrastructure projects would be an asset
·       Ability to understand technical language and written content
·       Knowledge of purchasing principles, techniques, practices and ethics
·       Knowledge of fundamental principles of contract law, negotiation of commercial agreements and practices of requesting bids, proposals, and quotes
·       Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required
